This is NOT a history book.   It says that right on the back cover. It IS a non fiction book about race and racism and how it has and still is a major part of ALL of our lives. It's not a complete history of racism, or events, it's a selection.  From the inner cover blurb:  "The construct of race has always been used to gain and keep power, to create dynamics that separate and silence. What is this all about?

    Like most people, I usually think of New Years Resolutions every year. Well, there's only so many times you can resolve to eat better, lose weight, read more and drink more water. No one ever does those things. Why? Because they're not SMART goals. If you're in corporate America, you know what a SMART goal is: S pecific M easurable A ttainable R ealistic T ime Bound Also, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty damn tired of trying to starve my body into submission. I still wanted to make some kind of goal though so I came up with a family goal for us this year. We decided to read and discuss all of the books on the top ten most banned and challenged books of 2020 this year. I would have picked 2021, but that list isn't out yet, I guess.
